Goldspotted Oak Borer (GSOB)
Goldspotted Oak Borer (GSOB) has recently been found to be causing significant mortality in three different Oak tree species in San Diego County. This invasive pest was found in San Diego County several years ago, but only recently has it been linked to the death of three common oak tree species. The insect pest is still confined only to San Diego County in California, and has not been found here in Riverside County. The pest is spread primarily through the movement of infested firewood. Due to the proximity of Riverside County to San Diego County, we are asking for the public's help in preventing the introduction of this pest into our county.
The links below have been provided to help answer questions about GSOB and the serious threat to the oak trees in our county. Information about GSOB will be updated as necessary so please check back frequently.
